Our Story

Our journey into the world of Arabic language learning began just like many of yours—with a profound desire to understand the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Benjamin Saood, originally from the city of Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States, set out on a transformative quest for knowledge back in 2007, leaving his hometown for the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia. His arrival in Madinah exposed him to the significant challenges students faced in learning Arabic.

Ben’s creative genius was tested when he recognized the need for a fresh approach. His unique way of thinking and ability to question the status quo, quickly led him to develop his own method of learning Arabic grammar—an approach that was both unique and entertaining. This method proved to be a game-changer, enabling him to master Arabic grammar concepts swiftly and excel in his own Arabic learning journey. Ben realized the importance of learning Arabic grammar as being a prerequisite for understanding all other sciences. He brought life to the science of Arabic grammar by turning grammar concepts into characters and devised a narrative approach to learning Arabic grammar. This innovative approach was revolutionary in the field and gained recognition from various language experts and grammarians, with one even going as far as calling him the Ibn Ajroom (a famous 13th century Arabic grammarian) of our time.

Ben subsequently shared his program with vast number of students at Madinah University and beyond, all of whom reaped tremendous benefits from this innovative approach.
In the deserts of Mauritania

After nearly a decade of teaching, Ben crossed paths with Muneef Durbar, who had moved from New Zealand to Madinah with the hope of learning the Arabic language. Ben came highly recommended, and Muneef approached him for a full-time private intensive course for himself and his wife during the blessed month of Ramadan. Having previously tried various courses and feeling on the verge of giving up, meeting Ben turned out to be a transformative experience for Muneef and his wife. They were amazed by the unique and engaging story-telling approach to learning Arabic grammar, a far cry from anything they had imagined.

Prior to encountering Ben, Muneef had explored numerous approaches and courses, teetering on the brink of giving up. He knew that this struggle resonated with countless learners around the world. Alhamdulillah (all praise and thanks to Allah), meeting Ben during the blessed month of Ramadan in the sacred city of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Al-Madinah Al-Munawwara, felt like a direct answer to Muneef’s prayers.

For the subsequent years since their meeting in 2017, Muneef travelled across countries like Egypt, Mauritania and Morocco in pursuit of knowledge. The more he was exposed to Arabic learning from other sources, the more he believed in, kept going back to, and kept working on all that he learned from Ben. Over time, Ben and Muneef collaborated closely to transform this unique Arabic program into an animated and enjoyable course, drawing upon Muneef’s creative skills, passion for Arabic learning, and proficiency in both business and technology. Their shared dream was born—to offer the world a more accessible and entertaining way to learn Arabic grammar. Having personally weathered the trials of learning Arabic, they recognized the paramount importance of making this revolutionary methodology available on a global scale.
Alhamdulillah, in 2021 ‘ReILM Education’ was established to bring this unique course to the world. This project is the realization of our dream. Our aim is to ensure that everyone has access to a high-quality, enjoyable, and engaging Arabic course. ReILM has re-designed the approach to learning Arabic, and many of the other sciences, guided by the principles of the three ‘E’s: Entertain, Educate and Elevate. We sincerely hope that you find as much joy in this course as we did in creating it.
